Our team of Occupational Therapists (OTs) are highly experienced and offer a broad range of services. We focus on helping our clients live independently in their homes and communities, provide rehabilitation and pain management strategies, conduct work place assessments and interventions as well as comprehensive driving assessments, driver retraining and vehicle modifications. We also offer activities of daily living assessments, which include things like medico-legal assessments and report writing and functional independence reviews.
We operate from our clinics in Frankston and Brighton and consult to clients either in their homes/residential care facilities or workplaces, with our workplace health programs.
We predominately service areas to the south and east of Melbourne, however we consult beyond these areas upon request.
Please contact or call our office (8707 0830) if you have an enquiry. We would love to hear from you!
Home Safety Assessments
We are passionate about helping our clients live safely and independently in their homes for as long as possible, and our Home Safety Assessments can help people achieve this. They are vital for people at risk of falls or who may be struggling with activities of daily living and life at home.
Our comprehensive assessments may result in modifications such as grab rails, ramps and platform steps, major and minor bathroom modifications, along with falls prevention education and the prescription of adaptive equipment and personal alarm systems.
We are registered to prescribe any necessary major modifications and equipment via the SWEP Program. Such equipment may include raised toilet seats, recliner chairs, mobility aids, customised wheelchairs (manual and powered) and scooters.

OTs play important role as part of our team managing pain. When assessing people in their home environment, we look at a whole range of contributing factors like posture, activities of daily living, energy conservation and fatigue management, as well as environmental factors such as the suitability of chairs, bench heights, couches and beds.
By addressing these broad areas, our detailed plan is designed to take stress off the affected area, often the back, shoulders and neck. Outcomes may include, prescribing aids that reduce bending, adjusting the height or position of frequently used items, prescribing equipment like supportive cushions or custom fitting a recliner or wheelchair. Our focus is on maintaining participation with activities to achieve a mind set when living with chronic pain.
Depending on the circumstances, pressure care management strategies may be required and mattresses and/or beds; day chairs and/or wheelchairs can be customised to reduce skin breakdown and pain.
If you are a health professional and would like your patient to be in less pain, give us a call or fax a referral through direct, I am confident we can help! Fax: 8707 0778 or Call: 8707 0830.
Workplace Assessments & Interventions
In a Medibank Private workplace survey (2005), they concluded that employees with poor overall health status take up to nine times more sick leave than their healthy colleagues, healthy employees are nearly three times more productive than employees with poor health, with the financial cost of poor health and well being estimated at over $7 billion per year, nationally.
We can help this pretty grim situation. Active One OTs offer comprehensive functional capacity evaluations, pre-employment screenings, ergonomic assessments, manual handling training and return to work plans. These essential services can reduce the risk of an acute or overuse injury, help to modify a workstation to manage someone with an injury, improve job satisfaction, reduce absenteeism and WorkSafe claims and increase productivity.
These services complement our Exercise Physiology led Healthy Workforce Programs.

OT Driver Assessments and Rehabilitation
Supporting drivers with medical issues or disabilities to gain or retain their independence is another key area for Active One’s OTs. We do this by offering comprehensive OT driver assessments, driver rehabilitation and vehicle modifications for people with disabilities. An OT driver assessment may be required due to the potential impact of a medical condition, cognitive impairment or disability on driving skills or concern about driving behaviour.
Our OT driving assessors have an additional qualification and are registered with VicRoads. They provide this service from both our Frankston and Brighton Clinics.
To book an assessment or to refer your patient, please fax through the necessary VicRoads form and we will contact the individual. Alternatively, give our office a call to learn more about our OT driver assessments. Phone – 8707 0830 Fax – 8707 0778

We also consult in Palliative Care, advise on Pressure Care and Management, make recommendations on Equipment Prescription like electric hospital beds, pressure care mattresses and deliver education on hoist and transfer techniques.
