Since the start of 2019 we have had some new team members join the Active One family and we are excited to introduce them to you.
Abbie is a Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor who recently joined the team at Active One. She graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours in 2016.
Abbie is passionate about helping people achieve their physical goals and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Abbie makes her treatments individualised and exercise-focused to get her patients moving and feeling better.
Abbie has a keen interest in sport-specific rehabilitation and enjoys working alongside sporting teams. She is the Head Physiotherapist at the Rye Football Netball Club and travels as a volunteer physiotherapist for Hockey Victoria.
We would like to introduce the newest member of our admin team, Abigail (Abbie). Abbie joined us on the 5th of January this year weighing in at 8 pounds 10. She has to go through a bit of training before she is ready to start answering the phones but she has our amazing receptionist Bec as her mum to guide her.
We wish Bec and Abbie all the best for their year in training and look forward to seeing them in the clinic.
If you have been training on Monday mornings you would have met our new exercise physiologist. Tim completed his Masters of Exercise Science and Clinical Rehabilitation at Victoria University in late 2018. Tim specialises in musculoskeletal injuries but is very open minded with pain science and new concepts to managing this.
Prior to and during his study, Tim had worked physically intensive labouring jobs which on top of naivety at the gym resulted in many chronic overuse injuries. Becoming frustrated with lack of consistent treatment and education given to him by healthcare professionals, he has made it his priority to learn and educate people on how to overcome these injuries in the most effective and efficient manner.
Currently, Tim enjoys playing casual soccer with friends, attempting to cook and attend the gym as frequently as he can. Also has a love for cars and spends many hours of his time working on his own.
Sharon (Shaz) has always been involved in the health industry. She started out working admin in GP clinics before moving to more specialised fields including plastic surgery and gastroenterology. She loves helping to improve people’s health and seeing the improvements they make.
Sharon did have a break from work a few years back to concentrate on raising her two (cheeky but good!) boys Lucas (11) and Thomas (8). They continue to keep her super busy with all of their weekend sports.
When not at work you will likely find Sharon at the Delacombe Park Cricket Club where her husband and boys play. She has made great friends around the cricket club and loves being a part of the community. She loves it so much that she has taken on the role of Vice President and Secretary in recent years.
