Client of the Month – Lyn Meagher
Lyn joined Active One in 2011 after being referred by her GP for osteoporosis. She has been attending 2-3 times per week and her OP has stabilised. Lyn is enthusiastic in class and knows the importance of weight baring exercise for her bone health. Lyn sets an enviable pace on the treadmill and she enjoys challenging herself with weights always trying to improve. This all has great impact on her musculoskeletal system, strengthening muscles, tendons and bones.
Lyn has recently started attending 1:1 appointments with Mary to focus on her core, upper body strength and balance. Mary has structured the personalised program to specifically target Lyn’s goals using evidence-based exercises. She is very motivated in taking her training to the next level and has reported getting a more physical challenge out of her 30 minute sessions when compared to the group classes. This has caused Lyn to be quite sore in her muscles for the few days following but loves it and is grateful for the challenge.
Training with Mary has improved Lyn’s strength and fitness but she is also very grateful for the encouragement that Mary has given her. Mary is an avid runner, as we all know, and Lyn has been inspired from training with Mary and has begun trying to increase the amount of running she is doing. We hope to see Lyn running in an event alongside Mary soon.
Lyn has made some wonderful friends at Active One group classes and really enjoys the connections she has made. The social side to our classes is important to her and loves catching up for a coffee after class, although she does come to work very hard.
Lyn was so committed to her exercise and her friends in class that she was commuting from Rye to Brighton for every class. Thankfully Lyn has recently moved closer and is able to spend more time exercising and less time travelling. We congratulate Lyn on buying her new forever home and look forward to many more years working with you in closer proximity.
