As published by the American College of Cardiology four out of five men can avoid a heart attack by following simple healthy lifestyles. There are around 36,000 men in Australia who suffers a heart attack every year. Some simple healthy lifestyles are as follows:

  1. Maintaining a Healthy weight – Statistics shows that more than half of Australian men are overweight or obese. This indicates greater chances of having a heart attack. This is because the excessive fat that adds on to the normal weight of a person also covers the vital organ such as your heart and may eventually lead to a heart attack.
  2. Healthy diet – Your diet is very important as it can make you healthy or unhealthy, so you need to have a proper and appropriate diet
  3. Be physically active – You need to be physically active. You can do regular exercise even just 30 minutes daily as it improves your cardiovascular fitness and therefore reduces the risk of heart attacks. But unfortunately, more than half of Australian adults are not doing the recommended physical activity needed to be healthy.
  4. Stop smoking – Commonly men love to smoke as their pastime, to relieve stress while others do it because it is already part of their daily routine and they become addicted to it. What they don’t know is that smokers are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack as non-smokers. Therefore, one should stop smoking to reduce the chances of having a heart attack.
